The irritated throat can be relieved with simple measures or natural remedies that can be easily found or performed at home, as is the case with honey, garlic, gargling with salt water and steam baths, for example.
Some measures that can be easily adopted at home to treat irritated throat are:
1. Gargle with warm water and salt
Gargling with warm water and salt helps to soften the throat, as well as eliminate secretions.
To prepare the solution, just add 1 tablespoon of salt in 1 glass of warm water and mix well until the salt has completely dissolved. Then, just gargle for as long as you can, discarding the water in a row and repeating the process 2 more times.
2. Nebulize with saline
Nebulization with saline helps to hydrate the airway tissue, relieving irritation and also being a great option for people who suffer from allergies.
If the person does not have a nebulizer at home, they can alternatively use a humidifier, or take the opportunity to breathe the water vapor that remains in the bathroom after taking a shower.
3. Taking honey
It is well known that honey is a great home remedy to relieve sore throat, due to its antiseptic, calming and healing properties.

4. Have tea
Infusions of extracts from some plants, such as chamomile, sage, peppermint, arnica or echinacea, can contribute to relieve throat irritation, due to its lubricating, anti-inflammatory, healing, astringent and immune system stimulating properties.
To prepare the tea, simply place 2 teaspoons of chamomile or echinacea in 1 cup of boiling water and keep in a covered container for at least 10 minutes. Strain, allow to warm and take 3 times a day. In addition, you can also gargle with the tea, but after letting it cool down a bit.
5. Gargle with apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties and helps to eliminate mucus that gets stuck in the throat.
To enjoy its benefits, just mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and gargle as long as possible, repeating 2 more times and always rejecting the liquid.
6. Suck honey and lemon candy or menthol
Sucking a candy or honey and lemon lozenges, mint or other extracts, helps to moisturize and soften the throat, eliminate secretions and also enjoy the benefits of the extracts present in the lozenges.
Some throat lozenges sold in pharmacies, in addition to plant extracts, may also contain pain relievers and antiseptics, which also help to relieve irritation.
7. Take garlic supplement
Garlic has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties due to the presence of allicin in its composition, being also a good option to treat irritated and inflamed throat.
To enjoy its benefits, just eat a fresh clove of garlic a day or take a garlic supplement daily.
