Synvisc is an injection to be applied to the joints that contains hyaluronic acid which is a viscous liquid, similar to the synovial fluid that is naturally produced by the body to ensure good lubrication of the joints.
This medication can be recommended by the rheumatologist or orthopedist when the person presents a decrease in synovial fluid in some joint, complementing the clinical and physiotherapeutic treatment and its effect lasts approximately 6 months.
Indications
This medication is indicated to complement the synovial fluid present in the joints of the body, being useful for the treatment of osteoarthritis. The joints that can be treated with this medication are knee, ankle, hip and shoulders.

How to use
The injection must be applied into the joint to be treated, by the doctor in the doctor's office. The injections can be given 1 a week for 3 consecutive weeks or at the doctor's discretion and should not exceed the maximum dose, which is 6 injections in 6 months.
Before applying the hyaluronic acid injection to the joint, the synovial fluid or the effusion should be removed first.
Side effects
After the injection is applied, transient pain and swelling may appear and, therefore, the patient should not make any major efforts or heavy physical activity after the application, and must wait at least 1 week to return to this type of activity.
Contraindications
Infiltration with hyaluronic acid is contraindicated for people who have an allergy to any component of the formula, pregnant women, in case of lymphatic problems or poor blood circulation, after intra-articular effusion and cannot be applied to infected or inflamed joints.
