Bach flower remedies are a therapy developed by Dr. Edward Bach, which is based on the use of medicinal flower essences to restore the balance between mind and body, allowing the body to be freer for the healing process.
The therapy with the remedies is completely natural, has no contraindications and uses a total of 38 different types of essences that help to expel negative emotions from the body, such as fear, hatred, worry and indecision.
Bach flower remedies should be used in addition to conventional medical treatment and should not replace doctor's advice, especially if they are being used without the supervision of a flower therapist.
How Bach Flowers Work
According to the creator of Bach flower remedies, Dr. Edward Bach, mood and emotions play a fundamental role in the appearance and cure of different health problems. That is, when someone is feeling negative emotions, such as fear, anger or insecurity, for example, it is easy for the balance between their mind and body to be lost, which can lead to the emergence of diseases.
Thus, the goal of Bach flower remedies is to restore that balance, helping the person to accept and work on his emotions. For example, when someone is afraid, courage must work, since someone who feels a lot of stress should improve their ability to relax, so that the body and mind can be in tune again, avoiding or fighting different types of health problems.
How to choose the right florals
The 38 Bach flower remedies were divided into 7 different types of categories:
- Fear;
- Insecurity;
- Loss of interest;
- Loneliness;
- Increased sensitivity;
- Hopelessness and despair;
- Concern.
Even within the same category, each flower has its specific indication and, therefore, to choose the best flower it is always recommended to consult a floral therapist, who will evaluate the person and try to identify through their behavior and symptoms what emotion they may be out of balance.
Since a problem can have several emotional changes at its base, more than one or two flowers can be used in the treatment, usually up to 6 or 7 at most.
What is Rescue remedy?
The rescue remedy is a mixture developed by Dr. Edward Bach that can be purchased ready-made and that combines 5 different types of flowers. Rescue remedy can be used in emergencies caused by daily stress, to help overcome difficult and stressful situations, such as having an exam or job interview.
The florals contained in this mixture are:Impatiens, Star of Bethlehem, Cherry Plum, Rock Rose andClematis.
How to use the remedies correctly
There are 3 main types of methods for using Bach flowers:
1. Dilution in a glass of water
This method consists of diluting 2 drops of each flower essence indicated by the therapist in a glass of water and then drinking it throughout the day or, at least, 4 times a day. If you do not drink the entire glass in one day, it is possible to store it in the refrigerator to consume the next day.
This method is mostly used for short treatments.
2. Dilution in a dropper bottle
Place 2 drops of each Bach flower indicated by the therapist inside a 30 ml dropper and then fill the remaining space with filtered water. Then, you should drink 4 drops of the mixture at least 4 times a day. The dropper bottle can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
This method is more used by those who need a longer treatment, as it helps to reduce the waste of the floral essence.
3. Put directly on the tongue
This is the method that can be more difficult for those who are starting to use the flowers, as the flowers are not diluted, having a very intense flavor. In this method, the drops of the floral should be dripped directly on the tongue, that is, 2 drops, whenever necessary.
