Capillary cauterization is a procedure that aims to rebuild the strands, in order to end the frizz, reduce the volume and promote the smoothness, hydration and shine of the strands, because it is done using heat and keratin, which is a protein that guarantees structure to the wires.
Capillary cauterization, although it can be performed at home, it is recommended that it be done in the salon to guarantee the effects, besides that when keratin is used in excess it can cause the hair to harden. The effect of cauterization depends on the type, structure and response of the hair to the treatment, and may need to be repeated every month or every 3 months.
What is it for
Capillary cauterization is a treatment that promotes hair reconstruction and is indicated for damaged, fragile, brittle or open cuticle hair.
The reconstruction of the threads happens due to the liquid keratin used in the procedure which, due to its effects on the threads, allows vitamins and minerals to act more easily on the hair, promoting hydration, shine and softness.
Although it can promote a smoother aspect to the hair, cauterization does not promote straightening, this effect being due to the reconstruction of the threads. This is because the products involved in cauterization have no chemicals and, therefore, do not alter the structure of the wires.
How it is done
The process of performing the technique may vary slightly depending on the kit used by the professional, but it usually includes the following steps:
- Hair washing: with appropriate anti-residue shampoo, in order to open the hair cuticles. This step is to ensure that the hair is ready to receive and absorb the product of the cauterization;
- Keratin application: after washing it is recommended to use a sealing cream or a conditioner combined with keratin ampoules;
- Use of heat: finally, the thermal step is carried out, which includes the making of a brush and flat ironing. The flat iron must be made in very thin strands and each strand must be smoothed 5 to 6 times.
Depending on the brand used, after the flat iron it is recommended to wash the hair in order to remove the excess of used product or it can be indicated that the product remains on the strands for a few days.
In addition to professional capillary cauterization, there is also homemade capillary cauterization, which consists of a homemade and more economical version of the technique, which can be done using the hair dryer or flat iron at home, until the hair is well aligned. However, even in this case, it is advisable to consult an experienced professional who can assess the type of hair and what your needs are, before performing the procedure.
Care after capillary cauterization
After performing a cauterization in the salon, there are some cares that help to maintain and effect of the technique. Such care includes:
- Do not use deep cleaning shampoos or with anti-residue action;
- Decrease the number of times you wash your hair;
- Use specific products for chemically treated hair.
In addition, for some months it is also recommended not to do other treatments or procedures on the hair, such as dyes or straightening, so that the hair can regain its health.
